I missed 4 birth control pills in the first active week of my pill pack- I took 4 in one day?

to compensate and then took them as normal everyday until I started bleeding the next week, and now I've stopped all together until my cycle is over and it's time to start a new pack- the bleeding has been going on for almost a week, is this an actual "period" or is this what medical resources refer to as "breakthrough" spotting? Will it continue all the way to the end of my cycle? Should I consider taking a pregnancy test if I was sexually active the same week I missed my pills?

thats so not good, why would you do that? im sorry i just had to ask i think you defientley need to speak with whichever kind of doctor gave you those pills and they should have went over how to take them with you more thorougly. taking for at one time can be very damaging towards your body and mess you period up for a while. i think you need to get on the phone with them and find out what to do its there job to tell you how to use them, and your job to read the instructions. k-t and im sorry they went very thorough but atleast now you know

Taking 4 in one day can really mess you up, quit taking them until the next cycle is suppose to start and use a back up form of birth control. call your Dr.to find out what may or may not happen with what you did and yes I would consider taking a pregnancy test

That was really stupid to do that.next time call a pharmacist to find out how to fix that problem if you forget your pills again. Call your doctor now and ask what they recommend you do and why this might be happening. And of course, taking a pregnancy test would be good just to know.

Yes and yes. And don't ever take the missed pills all at once again. If you miss them, you just take one pill a day. Never more than that.

You never take your pills, of any kind, to "make up" when you miss them. It could mean danger to some meds.

Call you doctor right now, don't go any further and tell the nurse what you did, don't be ashamed, and follow her directions. The doctor may want to see you for a check-up. Next time do as he says and, follow directions.

The little green ones that you take during your period actually contain no active ingrediant. they are there simply to keep you in the habit of taking one every day. What triggers your period is the absence of the ingredient contained in the blue pill. so if you missed four blue pills. your body thinks it's time to bleed and you are having a period. I've missed four in a row several times and I almost always bleed. My doc suggest take two at a time for two days and then continue taking them normally. I ignore the bleeding and hust take the pills as usual. Of course a pregnancy test wouldn't hurt, but would probably not be accurate for another week or so.

Many nurses and doctors actually skip the green ones altogether and go on to the next pack in order to avoid bleeding altogether. They suggest taking the green ones once every three or four months to cycle.

You should have read the instructions about missing a pill. You should NEVER take that many at once. If you miss one, you make up the one. I'd suggest you call your OBGYN
