gynecologist?

Question:
i missed my period for awhile now ive been told to see a gynecologist. what do they do and where can i go to set an appt. like a hospital?

Answers:
If you have a medical insurance you should ask your primary care physician to refer you to a gynecologist. Gynecologists ask you questions about your last period, and do some "fun" tests, like pap smear. It's a bit uncomfortable, but the whole experience is better with a female doctor. I'd also recommend taking your best friend with you the 1st time you go; it helps.
If you have no insurance, then you can go to a clinic or hospital. Call up admitting department in the hospital near you and speak with them. Hope this helps.
Look in the phone book under physicians. There should be a listing for OBGYN. You need to see a gynecologist.
