My period ended a week ago and now yesterday and today I've had bad cramps like PMS.?

Question:
Its the feeling l get the day before I start my period. This doesn'y usually happen. I'm 24 and my periods are regular. Has anyone else had this happen? What could be the cause? I don't want to go to the doctor b/c its not really bad enough but I was just wondering if any of you have had cramps AFTER your period and what was the cause? Was it serious?

Answers:
Yes, this is perfect timing for mittelschmerz- which I think means 'middle of the month'- (Sorry Latin is not one of my languages here)! But this will be on one side or the other- ovulation comes from your ovaries and if they are in their rightful places, and both working then your pain will be left-sided or right...
(If your pain is bad and on the left side, you may want to be examined too- as there is always the chance of your appendix giving you problems)...

First and foremost, and to be completely safe, please check for a forgotten tampon because of the risks of TSS... With TSS you may/may not have a fever present...

Could you be pregnant? (Although rare, Yes, you can still have your periods if you are pregnant). Been there, done that... An ectopic pregnancy would also cause pain...

Are you at risk for PID? (pelvic inflammatory disease)... This will cause intense pain in the abdomen- i had an attack once- about 25 years ago and could barely stand up- and I was sweating so bad from the pain of it all...

Are you constipated? Retaining water (from something you ate)? Do you have the diarhhea? All these matters could also make you feel that way...

I had the mittelschmerz until I had my hysterectomy in 2000...
I don't miss that at all!!!

Good luck to you Hon... and please let me know how everything works out... (you can always go to my 360 pages from my page here and let me know)...

Take care, and God Bless,
Anne
Sometimes I would experience the same type of pain. It is usually the time I was ovulating. Sometimes when the egg releases you can have pain that feels like menstrual cramps.
