How to ask Ms,Mrs or Miss?
Question:
I work with the general public and on serving them i have to take there name down, but find it very difficult to cover the question Miss, Mrs or Ms without insulting the lady customer.
Please help.
Answers:
Ha ha ha ha. I also work with the public and have the same problem! What I do usually is I ask their surname and then I say 'Is that Miss or Mrs Smith?' but I find they tend to be kind of defensive (either way) and raise their eyebrows at me when answering! Ha ha ha. yeah. so I'm not sure how to deal with the situation to be honest. But nice to know I'm not the only one!

Ms covers all bases.
I hate being called Miss as I am married, but Ms is OK.
Ms (pronounced Miss) is always good. It makes older women feel younger, and younger women feel older. I usually just use Ms because it covers everything but you could just ask is it Mrs. or Miss? Ms is pronounced with a z not an s like miss.
Ms. is actually pronounced "Mizz" and it covers all women regardless of marital status. I learned this working as a receptionist and administrative assistant at a company were most of our clients (I'd say 95%) are female.
jus ask them what their title is. it's a simple enough question.
