Another UTI question. Why no alcohol until it clears?

Question:
In my other UTI question, I mentioned the walk-in office i went to since i was desperate for a presciption. Well, the doc wasn't any help with my questions. He did mention not drinking alcohol until my UTI clears. Why? Just curious and no, I do not have a drinking problem.

Answers:
I'd imagine that either it interacts with the drugs or it's just that alcohol acts like a diuretic--it makes you pee (that's actually why you get a hangover when you drink too much--it's dehydration).

Other Answers:
I don't know if your on medication, but doctors usually always say no to alcohol when your on meds.
Because of the way alcohol is metabolized and because you do not want to be dehydrated
alcohol can irritate the bladder and aggravate the frequent or urgent need to urinate
