Why do my knees click?

Question:
I've been told by an unqualified relative that I have bad knees because they occasionally click when I move about (particularly when I'm doing exercise squats).
1. Why do they click
2. Is it something I need to be concerned with?
3. Will I have athritis problems later?

Appreciating your time to assist me....silly answers are welcome also to cheer me up.

Answers:
It's bubbles of Carbon Dioxide coming out of solution in the fluid between your joints when you sit because the volume increases in the joint and then having the bubble collapsing again when the volume decreases and pressure increases (when you stand up again), it's normal, like clicking your fingers.

Think of a bottle of coke, if the lid is on then the CO2 stays in solution, when you open the lid the bubbles appear.
my knees click and so do my friends. i think its normal.
