Mirena users?
Question:
Answers:
I had almost continual spotting for about three months. It was really annoying. I felt it too in the beginning -- the doctor had to go back in and readjust it. I also felt emotionally weird in the beginning -- they say the hormones are localized, but my doctor finally admitted that that doesn't mean that the effect I experienced is impossible. I really needed fairly reliable birth control though, so I stuck it out, and a year later it's just fine, and I never have to think about it. I can't tell you about the periods though, as I'm breastfeeding and don't really have periods anyway.
very true. i am a mirena user as well as a gynecologist so i see it from both sides. during the first few months you may have some abnormal spotting - this is very common but temporary. it will stop and eventually you have less painful, less frequent, very light and short periods. that is if you even have periods at all, since many women dont. it is an excellent contraceptive as well as treatment for heavy, painful periods
