Diabestes & Pregnancy?

Question:
I just found out I'm pregnant. I've been diabetic for almost 2 years . I've been pregnant before but miscarried because of the meds I was taking. I didn't know at the time I was pregnant. I was just wondering if anyone out there has been through this and did everything turn out okay. I have a 13 year old daughter already. I'm happy and scared. I want this one and I hope when I go see the OB-GYN that they see a fetus in there and not just a sac. Thats what happened last time.

Answers:
many diabetics miscarry not because of medication but because of the diabetes itself. many diabetic women have healthy pregnancies , but they are riskier and your doctor will be able to deal with it. if your glucose has been in good control for several months prior to this baby being conceived then chances are good that things will go well. if you have had very bad glucose control recently, you are at much higher risk for miscarriage, abnormal pregnancy (such as only a sac developing) and also for birth defects. take good care of yourself and i hope all goes well
No need to worry-the stress is not good for your baby. Although, you already have diabetes-several women develop a form of diabetes during pregnancy which is why they test for it. Let your doctor know in advanced of your condition and what has happened before, the only way they would have of knowing is for you to tell them personally-this way they can better treat your condition and help you and your unborn child.

I hope this helps.
