I'm new to birth control & have been spotting all day & everyday since i've started them.?

Question:
I know it is normal to spot while on the pill for the 1st 3 packs. But my question is how do you live like that? My husband is about to go crazy (we are newlyweds, so you can imagine, haha). My doctor put me on Aliece (not sure of the spelling). I got my period on Sat. May 27 (which was 2 weeks late), so i started my 1st pack of BC on the next day Sun. May 28. I bled everyday (a weird dark brown like tissue substance, gross i know but oh well) & my period never ended. So i finally called the doctor monday & she switched my BC to a higher dose, Ortho Tricylcen. She said that the 1st BC she put me on was a very low dose & that was probably why i was bleeding & that i shouldnt with Ortho Tricyclen. I've been taking it for 2 days & there is no change at all, still the same ol' bleeding. Do you think it will quit soon? Should i douche? I've never done that before, would that help? Just frustrated & looking for other opinions.. Thanks!!

Answers:
Alesse is the lowest dose BC on the market and thats why you were bleeding. You really need to take the new pill for an entire cylce to see the change. If no change, go with an even higher dosage. It's common to have a swicth around at 1st to get the right pill for your body. Douche is a vaginal cleanser, it has nothing to do with the hormone fluxuation that is causing your bleeding. Douching can lead to the removal of both good and bad bacteria which can lead to infections. Don't do it. As for sex, if you are only spotting, throw a towel on the bed and get to it. What's the big deal? You're married and I don't know many couples that stay away froms sex because of spotting. Be patient.

I'd try another doctor. That doesn't sound normal to me. For some people, the pill doesn't work well for them (they have these types of problems.) You could try the shot, or something like that?
