Any nurses or doctors out there? I need some advice!?

Question:
I had intercourse 2 days ago, and ever since i did, i have been bleeding. I have never done that before. It is not alot, just a little, and some times it has a brownish color to it, then other times it is red like normal blood. Is this good or bad. And i have been cramping a little bit, like it is my period, but i just had one about 3 weeks ago. any advice for me.

Answers:
Brown discharge is old blood that the body is just trying to get rid of, so unless it is along with a foul discharge, it is quite normal. Bleeding after sex can be due to many reasons including cervical dysplasia, chlamydia, gonorrhea, vaginitis or cervicitis, cervical polyps, trichomoniasis, yeast infection, endometriosis or adenomyosis, uterine polyps, and fibroids. You need to see your doctor for an exam and testing, to determine what the exact cause may be.

Other Answers:
Get a pregnancy test.

If you are not pregnant then see your doctor and find out if you have some kind of infection.

I am a nurse, and there are about three possibilities for this to happen. (1) Even though you had your period about three weeks ago it could have been brought on again by intercourse if it was prolonged or slightly rough on you. (2) If you were a virgin, this could happen after having intercourse the first time (3) The cramping makes me think it is your period again or possibly some bleeding left in you from that period. It could be some of his semen mixed with your bleeding. If this continues, see a doctor within the week. In the meantime, try sitting and relaxing in a tub of warm, almost hot water (no bubble bath) and try to not worry about it. I believe it will go away with three days of taking warm baths. Good luck.
