Does Zoloft cause thin blood?

Question:
I had my blood drawn a few weeks ago and after she drew it and bandaged me up, my blood squirted out. It wasn't a whole lot butit kind of scared me. The girl said "are you on blood thinners" and of course the only thing i take is zoloft. They didn't seem too concerned but one other time when i was on Celexa they went to put an iv in me and blood ran down my arm - they asked then was i on blood thinners and still o was only on Celexa. I have to get a wisdom tooth pulled in a couple of weeks and i'm so scared i'll bleed too much. Can anyone let me know what you know about Zoloft and thin blood? It may have just been a fluke thing that happened it just scares me. I take Zoloft for anxiety and this is making me worry probably more than is needed.

Answers:
my job is monitoring people on 'blood thinners' and NO- zoloft is not on our list of things that affect results... BUT you have to understand that MANY many things can affect that especially if you are taking medications (and YEAH that includes things like aspirin, alcohol). If you are concerned- call your primary care & they can run a prothrombin time test (which checks how fast you clot, etc). there are lots of different types of blood disorders that may not ever give you any real problems. with the previous blood draw- sometimes that kind of thing happens no matter what. doesnt mean there's a problem i promise. but anytime you have a health concern- you should definitely check with your doc. side effects can happen from many things.
No such effect is listed.
