I have a yeast infection this is my very first one i have several questions about them.?

Question:
First off i didnt really know i had a yeast infection till all the symptoms came about. I am wondering since i am taking this new antiboitic was the cause of my yeast infection. Secondly, i gave the yeast infection to my boyfriend and was wondering how long should we wait to have sex? Thirdly, I have been taking monistat 3 it has been working pretty good so far and was wondering how long does it take to clear up. Lastly, has anyway had servere itching from a yeast infection.

Answers:
Antibiotics will cause yeast infections. While the antibiotic is killing the bad bacteria that is making you sick, it is also killing the good bacteria that keeps your body in balance. The result is a yeast infection (discharge, itching, odor).

Don't have sex without a rubber. He won't feel or see the symptoms like you do, but he will pass it back to you. Also, antibiotics make the pill ineffective.

Take the Monistat 3 until you finish it. But only take it after you finish with your antibiotics (take your antibiotics all the way through also).

Other Answers:
Yes, I have lived through an intense yeast infection, when I was not even 13 years old. i was too scared to see the doctor, and it lasted 5 months until i did see one. A doctor would be able to answer all your questions, as well as diagnosis. You may not actually have a yeast infection, but something else. If monistat is working for you, that's great and it will probably be cleared up within a few days. For now, you can soothe the itching by using Vagasil. For my infection, my doctor prescribed a one dose oral pill that took a few days to work, and clotrimazole 1% hydrochortisone 1%.
