Help! I'm 24 and I have really bad spider veins! What to do??

Question:
Okay so lately I've been getting real bad cramps in my left leg.. Today I looked at my calf ( where the cramps are coming from) and I noticed I have real dark purple and blue spider veins running all the way down my calf!! I looked on webmd and they say its hereditary, which doesn't help me because my parents are gone so.. They also say that "older women" and heavy set women develop them later in age.. Well I'm really thin and not that old?? What can I do?? All it says on the web is to get laser treatment?? OUCH !! I don't want to sound like a hypocontriact, but it's summer and I don't think I want to wear shorts now ever?? Any one know of any lesser ways of dealing w/ this besides laser treatment?? Yuck I'm only 24 help !

I was about 13 I developed a small patch of them. now I am a bit older I have some more. What I did was call around in my area to see who was cheapest to get rid of them. I had a pretty good result .would have better if I had of went back. They do it with saline injections. It did hurt but I was so desperate. They only like to do it in the winter, cause they don't want you to get sun.something about dark spots developing where they treat. good luck oh by the way, my parents don't have them. don't know about that hereditary

I recommend doing a little bit of research on Sclerotherapy. It's a method where a sclerosing agent is injected into your affected are via a syringe, just like a shot. They basically make the veins less visible (completely invisible most of the time) by dissolving them.

The treatment may vary and the side effects are very rare, but do occur every once in a while. They may include itching, minor pain during the procedure, or an allergic reaction.

I only know of the basics of this procedure, but in my opinion, laser surgery or regular surgery is highly unnecessary and will be too invasive for you, especially at such a young age. This is the practical method for you.

Ask your family physician about it and I guarantee you he will recommend the same thing I just did.

Good luck.

PS: In regards to them being heredity is incorrect. They are only heredity if you have the R-O-W syndrome, a genetic disorder.
Its because your not getting enough blood flow through your legs. I'm only 19 and i have the same problem and I'm not heavy either. There's these things called compression socks that help the blood flow better. and just regular walking or jogging helps too.
If there are cramps it could be a sign of blood clots. If your on the pill it increases your chances of developing clots. Check with your doctor.
