Why is my period so irregular?

There are many reasons. It could be hormonal, it could be stress, it could be an unhealthy diet or too much dieting, it could be an unhealthy lifestyle of too much work/partying, too much alcohol/cigarettes, that kind of thing. If you go to a gynaecologist they may recommend hormones. You could try a holistic approach of drinking plenty of water (about 2 to 3 litres a day), getting light regular exercise like taking a walk every day. Eat a bowl of yogurt and some fresh fruit every day. There is a yoga exercise called "the locust" that strengthens the uterine muscles and this can help (it definitely helps with pain). There are also some herbal tonics that work to tone the uterus.
Most women don't get regular periods on that exact lunar cycle thing, but to get two in one month, or none for 5 or 6 months, is not very healthy. Go to a doc to rule out any physical problems, but my guess is that if you reduce your stress and are kind to your body with some of the holistic approaches suggested above, your periods will become more regular. (I'm talking from personal experience).

you could be having hormone problems. you should defintely see your ob/gyn. you might just need to be on birth control or you could need hormone therapy.
There are many reasons this could be happening. If you played sports in high school and were really active, and then graduated and your activity decreased, that could affect your menses routine. Also, if you have lost weight or gained weighed, that plays a factor as well as stress and life changes. As we get older, our body and horomones change. My advice would be to keep track of when you have your period for a few months and if it doesn't seem to fall into some type of pattern, I would make an appointment with your doctor for a papsmere. That will rule out any other serious problems. Dont waste time. See ur ob/gyne immediately.bcoz u hvebeen neglecting ur periods since 8 yrs.this is too bad.usually for a 12 or 13 yr girl when she starts her first menstruation, she bleeds for 2-3 days or more depending on their hereditary means.it would be irregular for some months or for a couple of years due to hormonal imbalance.it will be setright with in few months anyway. but if u get the irregular periods for a long time u have to consult ur doc to find out problem.if u neglect it, it may lead to loss in your motherhood.I think ur problem shall be 100% curable but it depends on the type of problem ur body is facing.if it is hormone prob then doc will suggest u some medicine to get complete treatment.if u have any ovarian cysts or fibroids in uterus then also u get irregular periods.imbalance in thyroid hormone is also one of the reason for ur problem.so u go n check all ur hormones then only doc will give u complete treatment.dont worry its a common problem to any girl. u will be alright.
