First of all, not getting it in all the way may not be "full intercourse" but it still counts as a sexual activity. Actually, you don't have to have sex for your "cherry" to be gone. A lot of times, what happens is that the hymen wears away on it's own, around ages 16-20, so many times a virgin will have a very small amount of hymen because of this.
