which date is right, ultrasound or LMP?

Question:
my sister's ultrasound said july 30,her last period was oct. 7. according to that, it's july 14. which one is right? she has it marked on her calendar when her last period was because she went on a cruise in november and she wanted to make sure she wouldn't be on her period then.

when they measure her stomach it comes up at 38 wks instead of 39 as from her LMP and 37 from her ultrasound

Answers:
Ultrasound can be inaccurate by a week or two, plus or minus so if you were correct in your period calculations, then I would go by that.

im sorry but please be less graphic theyre men on here

The date by u/s and LMP are both estimates. The earlier the u/s was done in the pregnancy, the more accurate it is. As long as the u/s date and the LMP date are close, DRs don't really care. Measuring her stomach is least accurate. Basically be ready a month before the due dates. Depends on when they do the ultrasound. The earlier in the pregnancy the more accurate. They don't normally bother changing the due date unless the ultrasound is about 2 weeks different, but then they do go with the ultrasound as long as it was early (first trimester). It is too much work to change with all the papers and that sort of thing.

With the measurements when the baby begins to drop into the pelvis that number goes down. They can hang out in the pelvis area for longer than you would expect though. nurse anne is right
