can a laparoscopy for endometriosis turn into a hysterectomy?

Question:

Answers:
It is entirely possible to have a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy, BUT a typical laparoscopy should NOT turn into a hysterectomy unless that has been discussed exhaustively prior to surgery and you have signed explicit permission. Talk to your surgeon about exactly what will be done and if you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the procedure, you simply do not have to agree to it (i.e., removal of ovary, removal of tube, hysterectomy, etc.). Good luck to you.

Other Answers:
It is possible. You don't know the mind of the doctor and you didn't say what you signed for. If you signed giving permission for that, then you might if there are complications. Talk it over with your doctor and see what he will do.
I have had two of them and they normally only try to address the problem. It would be malpractice to take it out with out your consent. Talk to your doctor about it if you have any concerns. Call her and speak to her nurse and have her pass a message on to her. Ask the nurse to have the DR. call you back. IF she is a good doctor she Will.
