Pregnant Or?

Question:
Can you come up negative on a pregnancy test and still be pregnant?

I haven't had a period in 6 months and have taken numerous pregnancy tests that all read negative. I've made a appointment with my O.B but I was just curious on the subject.

Also if I'm not pregnant what could be the cause?

Any info on the subject is much appreciated!

Answers:
You CAN be negative on the pregnancy test and then later test positive.

However, the situation you describe (no periods for 6 months) and a series of negative pregnancy tests indicates that you are not pregnant.

There are a number of reasons for you not to have a period. If this is something new that has happened after you have established a menstrual cycle, the doctors would call this "secondary amenorrhoea".

This could be due to many things - see the wiki page for a list of causes.

Go see your OBGYN doc to discuss and investigate this.
your best off making an appointment at the doctors and they will do a pregnancy test for you but the stop of your periods could be down to stress.
