Asians and Westerners?

Question: why is it that most women living in Asia use pads, but most women living in the West use tampons.I am quite certain that this is true after having lived in Asia for 20 years

Assuming that some women in Asia use tampons and it's not some sort of taboo, I think the reason why is just that it's the widespread cultural favorite or maybe they just haven't tried tampons and don't have the need to.
