yeast infection from antibiotics?

Question:
If i developed a yeast infection after taking antibiotics and i'm supposed to take the antibiotics for 10 days, should i finish taking them or stop?

Answers:
Yes, definitely finish the antibiotic but, eat yogurt and add yogurt, um, well, yeah, in that area. The good bacteria in the yogurt will clear up a yeast infection from antibiotics really fast w/o interferrin with the antibiotics!!

Other Answers:
no - you should always finish antibiotics , the infection can be treated with otc products ask your pharmacist, and it should also clear when you stop taking the antibiotics after the 10 days

Don't stop. Usually the yeast infection doesn't start until after you stop the antibiotics.

You should take the full course of antibiotics and then get some Monistat to follow up after.

Never heard of anyone having a yeast infection from antibiotics BEFORE they finished taking them

Talk to your doctor, you may have to start on another prescription for that. Some steroids, or antibiotics kill the natural flora of the body which may lead to yeast infections..Anyway, talk to your Doc. You can't go wrong their. You are to complete your medicine but u can also treat yourself to some yeast infection medicine such as Monistat This website should help u http://www.monistat.com/InfectionsIncrease/AntibioticsYI.jsp

No! Don't stop taking them! Just go to your gynecologist and get the pill for yeast infections. It's one dose. This happens to me EVERY TIME I take antibiotics! I know, it sucks!

You should finish taking the antibiotics, but go ahead and call your doctor and tell him that you have developed a yeast infection. He or she will probably call you in some Diflucan or tell you to treat the yeast infection with an over the counter product after you have finished the antibiotic.

yes finish the antibiotics ,then treat the yeast infection.

In the future, eating extra yogurt (with active cultures) or taking acidophilus while you are on antibiotics for another infection may help stave off this unpleasant vaginal itching and burning.

when my dr. puts me on an antibotic, he gives me a Diflican, too.

I can count on getting a yeast infection every time I take antibiotics. The antibiotic is working so hard to kill the bacteria in your system that is making you sick.and it kills more than just what it is supposed to. I get Thrush - on the tongue - and the lovely vaginal type as well. It is important to take the antibiotics for whatever problem you are dealing with, but a pain to take OTC meds to deal with the yeast. You can try eating yogurt which has an ingredient that fights yeast as well as backing off sugar which may contribute to your issues as well. Good luck and, unfortunately, we have to learn how to deal with it. Talk to your doctor, especially if you think you have thrush. He/she can prescribe a tablet that disolves in your mouth dealing directly with the area, or there is a prescriptive med that is swallowed that deals with the your whole system. I can't remember the name at 2 in the morning.
