Any women had a "MARSUPIALIZATION" procedure?

Question:
If so, what was it like? Recovery time?
How did it affect sexual relations after?
Is scarring obvious?

Answers:
Are you having abscess of the Bartholin Gland???
Marsupialisation is the procedure done to open the cavity containing pus and leave it open so that all the pus drains out and the part dries on its own.
Its a very short procedure lasting 20 minutes.
Recovery doesn't take long time (usually). The abscess cavity is left open or packed with gauze soaked in anti-septic lotion until all the pus has drained out. Regular pain killers like Paracetamol and Codeine is sufficient to keep you comfortable.
Scarring does occur as it is an inflammed tissue. However it wont be so obvious as the incision is made on the mucous membrane and not on the skin.
It doesnt interfere with your sexual function anyway unless it is recurrent.

I am a nurse and although I have never had this done myself I can tell you the recovery is quick and you should have no ill effects when you are recovered. As always, go to a gyn that is BOARD CERTIFIED. Scarring is minimal. Typically, we can go in with just a needle and drain the cyst. If we need to lance it, we use a small scapel and use a very small opening to drain the fluid.
