Is 27 too young to start perimenopause?
Question:
Answers:
Definitely seek a second opinion. At 27, there is no way you should be having hot flashes and night sweats--these symptoms are typical for 50-year-old women, and you're no where near there yet.
The other thing I suggest is to be assertive with your doctors: when you go in with symptoms and the doctors says that you're fine, the next question should be something like: "If I am fine, then how do you explain my symptoms?" Expect a detailed explanation, and keep asking questions until you're satisfied (don't worry about taking the doctor's time; doctors are handsomely compensated for their time). Take your symptoms seriously and expect your doctor to do so, too--there could be another reason for your symptoms other than an early menopause and the doctor needs to rule out those other possibilities before proclaiming that you are fine.
All the best to you in resolving this issue.

Actually I had the same symptoms for years and pretty much what you have is PMS - I'm just going through menopause right now and I'm 48 so if you're having those symptoms now I would definitely try to aleve the symptoms - a mild anti-depressant did wonders for me and also Yam cream that you could probably find in an herbal store. Also - find a book about PMS - I can't remember the one I read - but just knowing that others suffer these weird symptoms helped me greatly.
It is not unheard of but is unusual. I would seek a second opinion.. I have had symptoms now for 5 years and I am 35 so that is not that far from you. The mood swings can be helped really well with a mood stabilizer like Prozac. There are also over the counter tests to assess if you are in perimenopause.. I have no idea how good they are though. But if your Dr wasn't receptive to your concerns I would find another. No offense to anyone but male OBGYN's tend to not take this stuff seriously. I would try a female it possible..
