What causes Kidney Stones and is there a natural cure?
Question:
Answers:
Cranberry juice - that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of. Cranberry juice is occasionally useful for clearing up the early stages of a urinary tract infection, but completely useless for kidney stones.
Kidney stones are caused in different ways. The only way to tell how particular ones are formed is to analyze the stone after its passed. Culprits include diet and dehydration. There are also stones that are caused by a genetic predisposition to them. Here's a site with a lot of info on various kidney stones.
I have had 2 bouts with them, one that I thought was going to kill me (and hospitalized me for 2 days because they had to insert a stent, and then forced me into outpatient lithotripsy - shock wave treatment - to break the monster up) it was so painful. They are not a good time.
As far as a natural cure, there are websites promoting their natural method. I know two people who spent a lot of money on these types of products to no avail. A doctor will help determine what kind of stones they are and what a treatment is. Many times increasing water intake and/or a change in diet (both natural methods) can lessen one's likelihood of a recurrence.
Other Answers:
Drink cranberry juice.
Doctors do not always know what causes a stone to form. While certain foods may promote stone formation in people who are susceptible, scientists do not believe that eating any specific food causes stones to form in people who are not susceptible.
A person with a family history of kidney stones may be more likely to develop stones. Urinary tract infections, kidney disorders such as cystic kidney diseases, and certain metabolic disorders such as hyperparathyroidism are also linked to stone formation.
As for the natural cure- Organic Apple Juice. The citric acid in organic apple juice will help your body break down the chemicals that form the kidney stones. To help them pass more easily and with less pain. BUT, make sure you only do 8 oz in the morning and 8 oz at night. No more. The rest water. How much water do you need? Long story short, enough until your pee is very pale yellow or clear.
