Can a ovarian cyst burst?
Question:
Answers:
yes it can burst.
and it depends what kind of cyst it is.
i had a "chocolate" (means it's full of blood) cyst on my right ovary many years ago, it was agony. after swelling for 3 weeks and my doc kept telling it was "just tender cuz you're going to ovulate.then..your period is coming up." go take an asprin and call me on monday.
after several "mondays" passed i went to his office and was in so much pain as it burst, that i could not get out of the chair to go in his office for yet another exam.
i got hauled off in an ambulance.
it destroyed my right fallopian tube as well as the ovary and it was awful in there when emergency surgery had to be done.
do NOT mess around with this condition!
go to your gynecologist, get a pelvic ultrasound to find out what is going on, exactly what type of cyst is there, or could it be a fibroid? fibroids are only supposed to happen in the uterus, but this is not true.
asap get a proper evaluation.
Other Answers:
yes but Im not sure what would happen
Yes they can and they hurt like hell. A sure way of telling they are about to burst is when you walk and the side where the cyst is feels like it wants to come out of your skin. I had 2 cyst burst. When they burst you might have a chocolate looking discharge on your panties. That's just blood that was inside the cyst.
I also had the most recent one surgically removed because it got really big.
