nipples are red and cracked, pleasse help?

Question: My nipples are red and cracked for several years. I am 20 yrs old now. I am not breast feeding. Their appearance has improved a little over time and after I used a little Vaseline. I am too shy to consult a doctor or even tell my parents.
1) Do I have to see a doctor or can I get a name of a medicine which is effective and buy it with out the need for a prescription?
2) when I am showering it gets too red? Is this normal?
Please tell me coz it is really affecting me mentally. I am too worried.

You need to see a doctor.
You are very young to be having that trouble.
Believe me, doctors have seen MUCH worse than irritated nipples.
A dr. would insist that they check you over before giving any meds.
You should be having annual breast exams anyway.you could be REALLY endangering your health all in the name of shame.
Please go. See if you can get in with an OB/GYN. They will have more experience with this.
You aren't the first woman to have this!

Not normal Why dont you try Lanolin lotion You should be able to find it in a tube at a pharmacy Now I am not talking about a lotion bottle it will be a tube that is probably 3 oz it is very thick and hard to spread but it does work. I had this problem but it was do to breast feeding. try this it should clear up but you should consult a doctor cuz you might need a steroid cream to clear it up

See a doctor. What is there to be shy about? This is a part of your body and he has seen such things many times before. Don't try any cremes or lotion, you might be allergic. Put your shyness and worries aside. You can always see a female doc if it affects you too much.

best solution i got is for you to send me a picture of them and allow me to analyze the nips then i will attempt to give results soon as possible
