A friend of mine told me I could avoid my period on vacation by continuing my active birth control pills?

Question:
instead of the inactive ones. My doc verified that this was true, so I kept taking the active pills. My period came anyway, although a couple of days late. What gives? My pills are Ortho-Cyclen and I had been taking them for 2 months.

Answers:
Your pills are rather weak in the estrogen needed to keep your period away. You'd need to be on them six months or more to have enough of the hormone in your system to avoid the period altogether.
Yes they are correct, however you do not want to be doing this very often, as where do you think all that excess blood is being stored, it is meant to be expelled, to my mind what you are doing is actually a slow kind of poisoning the body. The female body is, naturally supposed to bleed, why mess around with mother nature.
