I've just been diagnosed with colitis and need some advice on my diet?

I have to have further tests to find out wihich type of colitis i am suffering from but have been told that what i eat can help reduce the pain in my stomach.

Cut out the empty sugars from your diet. Drink lots of water and cranberry juice.

Aviod refined foods;eat foods that have a lot of fibre,like fruits and vegetables.
Never eat white bread,eat full corn or whole wheat.
Bran is good for you.
Avoid pureed foods and seasonings that contain MSG (monosodium glutamate) as these aggravate Colitis and can cause spurious diarrhoea.
Also avoid smoking and alcohol.
There are leaflets your doctor will give you that give up to date information on living with colitis .
Depending on the type you have,it may be a temporary or a permanent condition;requiring lifestyle changes.
Best wishes. Have prunes and live yoghurt for breakfast. You could have cottage cheese as well. As you will losing protein and calcium from your body.
Also try supporting a different football team. Try Chelsea. We won't throw away the cup games again this season.
