Why do I have a stabbing pain in my lower right hamstring while driving?

Question:
After working a full 6 to 8 hour day, my leg hurts but I dont feel a stabbing pain like I do while driving. My job requires standing on my feet and walking. I drive a half-hour trip to work in the morning and it feels fine. I drive home at the end of the day and I am in tears because of the stabbing pain in my upper hamstring. I went to the emergency room and they said I just have very bad artheritis, and that I should take Motrin which didnt do anything to ease the pain. What could it be?

Answers:
Talk to your doctor, mabe he could suggest a better pain killer or maybe even perscribe you a pain killer.

Are you married? The earbone is connected to the Hamstring bone.

It is most likely pain coming from your low back. Standing for long periods is tough on anyones back. While at work you can reduce some stress on your low back by putting one foot on something like a phone book or a chair. I am going to guess that your car seat has no lumbar support and this is further aggravating your back. You can try a rolled up towel and put it in the small of your back, this works well for a support.
