in severe cases it can sometimes mutate into cancer but not all of the time . I have pcos and went 11 months with out a period which caused thickening , and i didnt get cancer , the doc just told me not to do it again because there is a chance it could mutate in cancer , i honestly wouldnt worry but you do need to get paps once a year. The papsmear once a year can SAVE YOUR LIFE..sorry didnt mean to yell bet i cant enphasize that enough paps are so important if pre cancerous cells are caught early

Other Answers:
no, it means your about halfway through your cycle and not due to start your period for another week or two.
