Ok, to be a nurse midwife, you will have to become a nurse, first.

You will have to go to college for two years and get an associate degree in nursing (ADN) and take the licensure test to get your RN.

After that, there are two routes you can take.

You can get a bachelor in nursing (BSN) and the continue toward the master in nursing (MSN) with a specialty in nurse midwifery,

or you can do something called an RN-MSN program in nurse midwifery -- this program does not require that you have the bachelor degree, first -- and it'll take you into the advanced nursing training and midwivery skills, right away.

You may want to consider doing a women's health nurse practitioner before the midwife -- it will give you the MSN degree, and you'll learn a HUGE amount, that will help you a great deal when you do the nurse midwifery, and will increase your scope of practice.

an RN makes between 50,000 and 60,000 thousand dollars each year -- so, the nurse practictioner / midwife would be around there, maybe a bit more.

The schooling is very demanding -- it's time consuming, and will demand perfection -- but, you'll be an independent healthcare provider, financially well to do, and you'll have a job that you love!!
