a question about menopause?

Question: my mom will have times where she won't have a period for months and all of a sudden she will get her period and bleed ALOT, I have had to bring her a change of clothes a few times. i feel really bad and don't know how to help her, she is going to call the doctor. would going on the pill help? or do some people have to have a hysterectomy?

Oh it happens before menopause, see a doc maybe he can help, as there can be a disease also, u better see a doc
