Is it possible for a woman who is not pregnant to lactate?

Question:
I'm pretty certain that I am not pregnant, however I notice that when I squeeze my breast that I produce a small amount of milk. This has never happened before

Answers:
i have been a nurse in the OB'GYN field for a long time. if your absolutely sure your not pregnant, it could be caused by high prolactin levels or in rare cases causes by a microadenoma, which is a benign tumor on the pituitary gland in the brain. you need to see a doctor and request a prolactin blood test and possibly a MRI of your head to check if you have that microadenoma. hope this helps
You have either have a hormone imbalance or a serious health issue. You should contact your doctor RIGHT AWAY. Seriously, this isn't something to fool around with.
