irregular periods..?

Question:
I have been getting my period for nearly 5 years and for a while now its been VERY irregular, lasting between 5 days and 14 days, with 8 weeks between and then just 1 week. There has not been a change in my diet/stress levels, and not sure what to do, any comments would be helpful. thank you

Answers:
You need to see your OBGYN doctor immediately. Having a period for more than 7 days is abnormal and not having a period for 8 weeks between periods is also not normal. You may have an imbalance of hormones which can be regulated with medication. Having a period for 14 days can cause severe anemia. (Lack of red blood cells).

Yes, you could also be pregnant. There are some women who have a period the entire time they are pregnant. So Magic Mistress is not wrong in her thinking. The fact that you are having a completely irregular menstral pattern suggests something is certainly amiss, so please don't delay seeing your doctor.

pregnancy? I dunno..

check w/ ur doctor You didnt say how old you are , but irregular periods are common as a teenager,You need to see a doctor about the iregularity though as it could be a sign of something more. Good Luck:-)

Id definately go to the doctor. Birth control would definately help to regulate your cycles so you can avoid the stress of wiating for your period (its so much nicer to know when its coming haha).

Honestly, the only thing you can do is see a gynecologist. If money is an issue, they'll work with you. Or you can go to Planned Parenthood. They are very cheap and can help you too. Women's bodies can be a real puzzle sometimes. I hate hormones. ;-)

3 words: POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME. Do U have weight problems and are a bit hairy? Those are CLASSIC symptoms.

I have the SAME problem, but it's been 3 years since I started the treatment, and I've noticed a HUGE improvement.

Don't PANIC! It's completely NORMAL. It's actually more common than you'd think.

JUST IN CASE, please GO to the Gynecologist! He'll help you!
