A cyst is a closed sac or pouch that contains fluid or solid material. It is an abnormal structure resulting from developmental anomalies, obstruction of ducts or infection.
Not exactly sure why they rupture, maybe because they are too full of fluid and just burst. I know that it is very painful at times when you get a cyst and they rupture. You should have the Dr do an ultrasound to see what size the cyst is and recommend a treatment for it. If it is larger than the size of a walnut then it probably should be surgically removed. Altho I know that they can be dissolved with certain medication.
