i had a heck of a time with tampons too. this could have broken your hymen, but if you only got it in a small way then i doubt it. sometimes inserting tampons can hurt during your period because those tissues are sensitive because of the hormones, but then other times it will just slide in with out a problem. the pain may just come from the tensing up of the vagina, especially if you are nervous!! definately use a rounded tip applicator to start out with. the cardboard, blunt tips are not fun at all to use, especially for a beginner.
i wouldn't stress about the hymen issue. alot of girls are born without hymens at all and many girls can also break them during activity, such as bike riding, falling down onto something between the legs or falling into the splits, etc. i personally have no idea when mine was broken, i never had any bleeding or pain and it's definately gone by now.
good luck!

Does that mean you use a maxi pad?
no the tampon didn't break your hymen it is too far back for a tampon to break it. try laying down with your knees bent and relaxing to put one in, if you have to many problems, im told that helps. No, I don't have any pictures or diagrams.
Yes, you could have broken the hymen, but even if you broke it you are still a virgin.
Here is a picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hymen.png it's a little dark, so here's a photo; it's rather graphic, but you will see exactly what it looks like where it is located, and how fragile it is. http://www.defloration.tv/photo/karina/hymen.jpg 2 b onnist w u i think u would think u would hav 2 hav sex 2 pop ur cherry
You didn't break your hymen with the tampon. Since you are still a virgin you haven't broken it that way, but if you have been heavy into sports I heard it can break that way. No big deal. Try different brands of tampons, some are better than others -- like the long skinny ones, not the short, fat ones. Use pads more often then you won't get that syndrome they warn about in the tampon info sheets.
intact hymen is not an accurate indication of virginity. your hymen may be intact but not a virgin anymore. some thick hymen can stand repeated sexual intercourse. conversely, you may have a broken hymen due to heavy sporting activity or masturbation but still a virgin. inexperience in sex is what makes a women virgin. btw, are you reserving your cherry for the right guy? good luck. cheers!
