Passion Killers?

Question:
Maybe I'm looking for a miracle here, condoms are passion killers and I can't take chemical conraceptives such as the pill becase I'm at high risk of a stroke. Is there any other effective methods (other than celibacy) I can use to avoid pregnancy?

Answers:
There's lots of different methods you can look into.

You could use something like a diaphragm with spermicide or the Today Sponge. They both block the cervix to keep sperm from passing through and a spermicide to kill the sperm if it happens to pass through. These are both about 80-85% effective. The diaphragm you have to see a doctor for and get fitted for. It can be expensive to get this method, but it can be reused and lasts for a long time when it's cleaned and stored properly. The Today Sponge can be sold over-the-counter. It just came "back" to the US after a brief period of being off the market for problems with the manufacturer. There is the IUD (intrauterine device) which is a small device placed inside the uterus to stop pregnancy from happening. These also require a doctor visit and can be expensive, but they too can be used for long periods of time. These have a 97-99% effectiveness rate as well. If you don't want to see a doctor, you can try just a spermicide. They come in foams, suppositories, films, jellies and are relatively inexpensive. They have about an 80-85% effectiveness rate as well. There's also the withdrawal method, and the rhythm method. The rhythm method tracks your temperature or your cervical secretions and lets you know when you are most fertile. The withdrawal method is obviously when the man withdraws the penis before ejaculating. These are less effective though because there is a lot of room for human error. Keep in mind that none of these methods are going to protect against sexually transmitted infections either, so make sure you and your partner(s) get tested.

I hope this info helps you out!

There is some sort or foam that I've been told works. I don't recall the name, but you might want to look into foam contraceptives. It's actually sprayed inside the vagina.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. but Good Luck!!

Not that I've ever heard of. If you can't take a contraceptive pill, and you don't want to use condoms, there really isn't an alternative, at least not one that gives any degree of reliability. The other thing to remember is that only condoms give you decent protection against STDs.

So either you're going to have to find a way of making condoms sexy, or live without sex.

you could try the cap or iu speak to your dr hunny
