PCOS and Metformin?
Question:
Answers:
I take 1500mg a day also. I always get the shakes if I wait too long to eat, or if I eat the wrong thing-like too much carbs/sugar and not enough protein. In the beginning I had the cramps and diarrhea, but that's all gone now. Make sure you take it with meals and at the same time everyday. Also, ask your doctor, you may not need such a high dose. I know other PCOS sufferers who take only 1000mg daily. Let your Dr. know if it bothers you. Good luck!

Side effects that I have had from Metformain (AKA glucophage) are, high blood pressure, low blood sugars, diarrhea, hot flashes, chills, cramps, headaches, the occassional low-grade fever. it's "normal"
I have only been on met (1000mg) for almost a month. I have had problems with cramps, gas, diarrhea, and very nauseous. I find that it helps if you take it with a lot of food and water.
