It depends on why you are getting a physical. If it's a sports physical, no they don't check your private parts. If it's a physical for birth control pills which many young women take today, yes, you will be examined. As you age and some day get married, you'll need to have a gynecological exam and it will be routine to get examined in parts that embarrassed you as a young lady. Also, it's common today for young women who are sexually active to contact sexually transmitted diseases and you'll definitely have a gynecological exam if you develop pelvic pain, spotting between periods, unusual discharges, itching, fever, swollen glands, etc. You would tell your mom you need to run, not walk, to your gynecologist for an exam to determine what's wrong. There are also more young women today who are getting breast cancer or vaginal cancer if they are sexually active, and if you suspect anything is wrong, again you would tell mom and run to your specialist. It's always best to know who you are going to use in an emergency for one of the above, so ask your mom if she should take you to someone you could get to know before you need her. That way you will already know how to talk to her. And remember, every girl has been scared to death to go for a gynecological exam her first time. Also, the gynecologist has seen and heard it all and you can't shock her by your problems. That's why we have specialists! But if you ever have a baby, your fears will be completely gone. That's the crowing glory as the young woman delivers her first baby. I've found some sites on a girl's first gynecological exam so you can read about what to expect, you should be more comfortable when you go to your first visit:

If you go to a good doctor, they will check "down there". The only reason why some don't is because they get embarresed

There is no need to be embaressed its just a doc and they are just making sure that everything is ok and that you don't have any cancer in your coochie. you go to a gynocologist for that - at Planned Parenthood.don't let a general MD check that - you are in charge, say no.

you need a pap, once you start having sex. An annual exam prevents you from heartache later. Just take a deep breath and allow yourself to sink and relax. It will faster than you think, they know what they are doing. It only hurts if the doctor uses the wrong size device, they have tiny ones to ooo very large speculums

Yes they check you down there its very important to check that part of your body. If you just relax and think of being on a beach or something its not as bad. There are lots of health problems that start down there and can become very serious so you need to go get a female doctor if that makes you feel better that is what i do.

y would u be imbarrasesd? theres nothing to be imbarrised about. i mean im a guy and from a guys standpoint its a bit more imbarrising with the whole different size thing. i mean all chicks r pretty much the same down there. guys rnt. it depends but the doctor won't check it if your not comfortable with it

They will give you a pelvic if you're sexually active, which if you are, don't hide the fact because you're embarrassed. It's going to be a part of your adult life and you'll just need to get over it more or less. Pelvics are a good thing because their watching for signs of cervical cancer, as well as cells that grow to help you catch any problems you may have at an early stage. Pelvics are usually not part of a routine exam, however if you are sexually active you should have a Pap done at least once a year. Hope this helps and relax. It's not as bad as it seems.
