Can I go swimming?

Question:
I had laproscopic surgery 5 days ago. Stitches are out, incisions look great, but it is not recomended to bathe or swim for one week, showering is OK.What if I use waterproof bandages? Its 104 degrees, I just want to go in the pool and float!

Answers:
Just had surgery 18 days ago laproscopic as well. My Dr said after 1 wk. Wait, many many germs are in the pool water and might cause an infection and set your healing process back even more. Take a cold shower or soak in the tub at home :)

Other Answers:
If you just had surgery i would say you should listen to your docter because it could make something go wrong.

i think if they told you, you cant
well.. you shouldnt, specially if you doctor did

Call your surgeon and see what he or she says. As long as you put a waterproof bandage on I think it would be ok..But contact your Dr first to be sure. I would hate it if you get infection over a dip in the pool.

I would wait it out, wouldn't won't to have to go to the emergency room with your scar busted open and you start bleeding and then the germs in the pool water could be serious you could get a staff infection and then you would have alot more pain than you would have just wanting to swim.I know it is hot I would take a cold shower and turn the air down and get it colder in the house. Try and just make due a few more days. Better to be careful than not be and regret.

no, stay out of the sun !
and out of the water.!
Weakness from sun and water infection .

If your doctor told you to wait for a week, then you should wait a week, anything less and you're risking an infection. Especially in a SWIMMING POOL.I can't even imagine how many germs are floating around in a pool, even a neighborhood one.
