How long does a woman have to wait after she has had a stillborn/misca. to try again?

I had an amniocentesis (i'm 27 and he recomended it), and my water broke at 21 weeks and I have birth to a still born baby boy. Does anyone know how long I have to wait until I try to conceive again? I don't want to do it too soon and then have a miscarriage.

First, I would like to say I am sorry about your loss. I, too, have miscarried, though not in your circumstances. I was told to wait 2 cycles. It would be like if you went to term; you don't want to conceive within the 1st 6 weeks. However, I would confirm with your Dr. They actually should've covered this with you. Although, why did you have to have an amio? Do you need genetic counseling or anything like that? Any problems may delay when you might want to conceive again.

I had a miscarriage and my doctor did a D&C and I had to wait 2 cycles to make sure that everything was cleaned out. I think in your situation, I would go get genetic testing and counceling before I went forward. I wouldn't know how to handle that happening more than once. I'm sorry that you went through that and I hope that it doesn't happen again. By the way, I have 4 kids now, so hopefully it will work out for you too. I'm so sorry for your loss. i would say to wait at least six months. this time period has nothing to do with your loss, tho. carrying and supporting a baby is draining on your body, even if the pregnancy wasn't full term. give your body time to fully heal and recouperate from the pregnancy and restore itself back to how it was before you try again. it would probably be good if u went to genetic counseling also. u don't want to risk experiencing something this trauamatic again if u can prevent it.

You should wait at least 6 weeks to allow your body to recover from the trama (some doctors will recomend even longer) and you should make sure you are emotionally ready before trying again

after around 4 to 6 months, you will get your period. you can wait for another 2 months! ther is no risk of miscarrying unless you are smoking or taking alcholol. it does not matter when you get pregnant. miscarrages are mostly by abnormalities
