Could I still be pregnant?

Question:

I had protected sex with my boyfriend 3 days before my period which was one of my infertile days. We used a condom the condom did not break or tear. Yesterday was the day i was suppose to get my period but it did not come on. Today I have taken a test and it has came out negative. Could I be pregnant?

Sex, protected or unprotected runs the risk of pregnancy as no birth control method other than abstinence is 100% effective. If you are not using latex condoms the chances are even higher. Lambskin provides very little protection against pregnancy or STD's. Improper use of a condom: wearing it improperly, improper fit, slippage during sex, not holding on to it when withdrawing, or expired condoms can cause leakage. Using lubricants that are not water based (oils, vaseline, etc.) causes breakdown of condoms. Your best bet is to use a spermicide along with your condom to improve your chances. Also pre-ejaculate is more potent sperm than ejaculate. It is contained in the clear fluid that sometimes comes during first arousal and erection. It is important that a condom is in place before any genital to genital contact. Sperm can live for 3 days inside the fallopian tubes. It is too early to know if you are pregnant by a urine based test. A blood test can determine within two weeks.
