Answers:
Once you've had gestational diabetes, your chances are 2 in 3 that it will return in future pregnancies. In a few women, however, pregnancy uncovers type 1 or type 2 diabetes. It is hard to tell whether these women have gestational diabetes or have just started showing their diabetes during pregnancy. These women will need to continue diabetes treatment after pregnancy. Many women who have gestational diabetes go on to develop type 2 diabetes years later. There seems to be a link between the tendency to have gestational diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Certain basic lifestyle changes may help prevent diabetes after gestational diabetes.

not always my mom had it with me but not my little sisters. and she hasnt gotten diabetesyet. i'm also sorry to say that your daughter is at a risk for diabetes if she doesnt have it already
Women who have had Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) are much more likely to develop type 2 Diabetes Mellitus later in life (5 -10years).In addition to developing type 2 DM later in life, women who have had GDM with one pregnancy are 30-69% more likely to develop GDM again in future pregnancies. In Evans and Patry study, weight gain of more than 15 lb (6.8 kg) between pregnancies and an interval of less than 24 months between pregnancies were found to be the strongest risk factors for future GDM.
