Sometimes my periods are irregular, but I'm on the pill?

Question: I started taking ortho tricyclin-lo a couple of years ago, but stopped taking it after a few months because I wasn't able to continue to buy the pills (I didn't drive and my parents didn't know I was on them). Last winter I started taking them again, but since then a couple of my periods have been irregular. I've started a week early, a week late, and twice the beginning of my period just looked like spotting rather than a normal menstrual flow. Could this be caused by stress? I have just completed my first year in college, and it has been stressful. Should I be concerned?

birth control pills screw around with your hormones, so does stress. between the two you should expect some abnormality. as long as you arent bleeding for two weeks or missing entire periods i dont think it is a big deal. Im on birth contol too and i got my period half a week early and a week late once. again, probably nothing to worry about.

It is hormonal, and maybe you should ask the doctor for a saliva hormone test to determine if your feminine hormones are all at optimal levels.

Stress could be throwing you off, too.

How long have you been off the pill? Sometimes when you get off the poill you can have irregular spotting after as long as 6 months. cnts are nasty college girl. if I was you i'd just get it bashed allot
maybe your narmal flow will start again.

I had that same problem with that same pill. My doctor called it breakthrough bleeding. Told me that different pills have different % of symptoms. That one has a higher % for bleeding but lower in other areas like cramping.
-It's annoying but usally no cause for great alarm
Talk to a doctor and change your pill. Your in college now so you can take care of the doctor stuff with out dealing with your folks. (there may be a planned parenthood near your school)
