Can exercises cause a lighter period?

Question:
This past month I have been working out more frequently than usual. I had my "period" the day it was supposed to come. However, it only lasted one morning and was only a few drops. I am sure it was my period b/c my face broke out and I was grumpy right before (like always. It's weird because in the 10 years I have been having periods they have never been abnormal at all.

I had an abnormal PAP when I was pregnant 2 years ago and was told to have another after my son was born but I never went back. I also have a lot of cramping almost all month. So I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

So, what do you guys think? Is this light period due to my increased excercise? Or is it from my abnormal PAP 2 years ago that I never followed up?

Answers:
Exercise can slow or even stop your period. This is where I would normally say "Don't worry." But in your case, you should call your doctor right away and schedule that PAP. I know they are no fun, but they can detect problems before they are big problems. Just to be safe, go have another exam to rule out the possibility of cervical cancers or cysts. Early detection is the best way to help yourself. Good luck!
