Afraid to have sex? SERIOUS!!?

Question:
I have a friend that's been married for over 5 years and she has a severe aversion to sex. Can anything help her? Her marriage is in lots of trouble.she is very depressed about this. Her husband has been loyal to her.but everyone has their limits. What can she do? Is there any hope? She is so terrified of penetration.and she has never even been able to have a vaginal exam or pap smear! Has anyone ever heard of someone being this way? She gets so afraid that any kind of exam or sexual penetration is impossible. I don't even think she can use a tampon!! HELP! She is married to a great guy and I want them to be happy.are there any programs out there geared toward this? She is a virgin..

Answers:
Your friend needs more help than either you or her husband can provide. By the way, give her hubby a hug for me for being a great guy through all this.

That kind of fear is usually rooted in a traumatic experience that has either been blocked out or she doesn't want to discuss. For her sake and for the survival of her marriage, you need to get her into counseling. That can be tough, because her mental and emotional defenses will probably fight against addressing this issue.

However, if she is ever going to be free from this fear, she needs to confront it. With your and her husband's support, that just might happen. Good luck.

Your 'friend' has been married for over 5 years and she won't have sex? Hate to be the one to tell you.your 'friend' is gay.
okay tells her to try to close her eyes and try to relax.it doesn't really hurt that bad .she needs to go to sex counseling for married couples that where people with her kind of problems are. I was scared at first but that what i did was close my eyes and relax
Your 'friend' may be a lesbian, or maybe she had a serious sexual trauma experience in her childhood that she had never dealt with, and has not told anybody else. If this is the case, she definitely needs to get in to see a therapist, or she could eventually have a serious nervous breakdown.
