I recently had a smear test.?

Question:
It showed abnormal cells. I was treated for CIN. Has any1 else bn through this? What happens next? Will I have cancer in the future?Im a bit scared!x

Answers:
If you have had regular smear tests it should be nothing.I didn't have any smears for 5 yrs cos i hated it and i was unlucky,i did have cancer. They will do a proper check of everything. My friends came back abnormal and she had lesions on her cervix and they just laser them off.No pain after or anything.Good luck and take care and more so ALWAYS go for your smears x

Other Answers:
i take it the cells were removed??

My friend and my mom both had abnormal cells, that had them removed and have to have a smear more often just to keep an eye on things.

Cervical cancer is a very slow developing cancer, you are unlikely to get it if you keep up with your smears.

Some abnormal cells will be there always.Doctors know what is the tolerance limit. If the smear test requires removal of cells doctors will do that.Take doctors advice. If anything is wrong they will tell you.Be tension free My friend had abnormal smear tests for several years. She had a smear test every 12 months, then they started coming back clear again. If you have had treatment, you are already being kept under a watchful eye. Just keep up with your smear tests and whatever else your advised to do. You'll be fine.

Please dont be scared, the cells they found werent cancerous just the cells that start the changes in your cervix. I have had this and 2 of my friends plus many other stories ive heard so it is very, very common. You will be asked to go back for smears more regularly than usual until 'normal' results are consistently found. You have need to worry, these smears are designed as a preventative measure so as long as you go along to your appointments you will be absolutely fine xx
