Birthcontrol, early period last month then no period yet this month?

Question:
I've only been on birthcontrol since the end of March after my surgery for endo. Now I took it exactly I was supposed to and such but then last month I started my period a week early while I was still taking the active pills and it was thick nasty dark colored syrup looking. At first since it was a week early I didn't think it was my period but I called the gyno and he said it was and he told me to stop the birthcontrol completely since it did start and he was going to write me a for a different type of birthcontrol since it wasn't helping my pain that much. So I stopped the birthcontrol and I went got my new birthcontrol but he told me not to take it until my next period is over. Which was all fine with me, but, I was supposed to start around a week ago but never did. I don't know why my period hasn't started yet, it's usually right on time. But then again it did come a week early last month and it had never looked like that before. I've had more stress and worry than ever really here lately so that might be the cause but I don't know.

Answers:
Usually brown/dark discharge is old blood that the body is trying to get rid of. It usually takes about 3 months for your body to get used to the hormones, and for your cycle to get regular. Stress can also effect your cycles, but since you haven't been on it for at least 3 cycles yet, this is pretty normal to have your cycle being screwy right now.

Other Answers:
It sounds like you are pretty stressed out, and this alone can stop you from having your period, even when on the pill.

And don't mess around with your dosage, take it as planned. It takes months for your body to adjust to the hormones in the pill, and then stopping taking it and starting up again can be hard on your body. And will most likely keep your period from being predictable.

Listen to your doctor. and for me, since being on the pill, my periods seem to be much darker and thicker, and my doc says it's OK.
