does anyone know anything about the inplant called IUD?

Question:

Answers:
An IUD is a long-acting contraceptive method intended to be used for several months or years. It is a small device that is usually made of plastic or of plastic and copper. A doctor or trained health care worker places the IUD in the woman's uterus. The most commonly used IUD, the Copper T380-A, can be left in place for 10 years.

Mirena is a new intrauterine device (IUD) that gradually releases the progestin levonorgestrel, thereby delivering the hormone to the lining of the uterus. The direct effect of levonorgestrel on the lining of the uterus results in less bleeding than is experienced with other IUDs. A health care provider inserts Mirena into the uterus during a clinic or office visit. Mirena was approved for use in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA) in December 2000.

Other Answers:
I used to have an IUD and I loved it. I got the one without hormones and it lasts for 10 years. No side effects.
I had a friend that had the one with hormones and she ended up gaining a lot of weight.
If you get one I would get the one with no hormones.

just so you know to some people an IUD is a form of abortion. An IUD does not prevent conception, it prevents implantation of the egg in the uterus.
