Am on the pill but worried about it affecting my sex drive, does it? and what are good alternatives?

Question:
Have been with my Fiance for 2 years and have noticed my libido decrease, I assume that just happens natutally as I still find him sexy and love him to bits but he's worried as he's read that it does affect it. Heard the coil is good but sounds kind of scary!!

Answers:
YES YES YES YES the pill can affect your sex drive. Three of my friends have had the same problem. Talk to your doctor about switching to a form of BC with a lower hormone, like Ortho Tri Cyclen Low. There are several forms out there. Since they switched to a lower form of BC their sex drive is right back where it was and they are happy. Talk to your doctor, its a common problem.

Other Answers:
change the type of pill you are on. there are a ton of different types. different formulations affect people differently. you have to find one that works for you.

Best thing to do is get off of all kinds of birth control and make him use condoms instead. All birth control has an effect on sex drive. It can do, same thing happened to my ex. try switching to a different pill

The pill shouldn't affect your sex drive at all but if you're worried about it, speak to your doctor to maybe change which brand pill you have.

I think the pill (aside from no sex or sterilisation) is still the best form of contraception

If your sex life is slowing down, try other things to improve them. A little variety could help . Good luck, have fun finding out :-)

yeah, my girlfriend was on the pill too. it does decrease the old sex drive. she got the coil and it's presented no real problems. a bit of initial discomfort and cramps apparently, but it sorts itself out within a couple of days. i will say that's it's great not having to think about it!
read up on it before you do anything though.
