the ovary releases an egg, yes?

Question:
Is one ovary more dominant than the other and releases more eggs in the womans reproductigve lifetime? Or do the ovaries take alternate months of the cycle and release and egg on alternate months? Do they both release an egg and the one that reached the womb first is the one to survive and go on to potentially make a baby?
How does it work?

Answers:
it's my understanding that only one egg is released per cycle (so from only one ovary). good luck!
When I had two ovaries (I've only got one now) I knew exactly which one was releasing the egg each month. It alternated each month. That's just me, and other people could be different.
